Going ethnic for the Ganesha festival

Namaste!

Happy Ganesh Chaturti, everyone! Today is one of my favorite days of the year! My folks and I get together and worship Lord Ganesha for health, happiness and prosperity. But that's not even the best part! I get to binge eat a lot of Indian sweets like the modaka, laddoo etc. We also exchange clothes and I thought, hey, why not share some pictures with you guys?

Well, this wasn't really captured on Ganesh Chaturti, but this is the best opportunity for me to share them with you!

Sunflowers!
So I wore this lovely designer saree for my brother's engagement ceremony last year. I wanted a South Indian look and hence picked a saree with a golden border. The pallu is lace and shimmer, while the body of the saree is chiffon. The blouse is cotton and I decided to go for long sleeves.

Being South Indian, one of the important accessories in our culture is the mallige hoovu or the jasmine flowers. So for the first half of the function, I let my hair loose. But when I got hands on the flowers, I wore it on my hair. I also decided to go with black jhumkas, lots of red and gold bangles and a tiny little bindi to complete the look.

Flaunting that hand on the hip look
Trying to hold a smile?
Some candid moments
South Indian.. a proud one!
Rocking the gajra!
Smiling from the heart!
Once again, wishing all of you a happy Ganesha festival!

Love,
