Essential Skin Care Tips For Summer

Summer is almost here and it’s time to finally put those chunky coats away and break out the flowing skirts and crop tops once again. Summer is the best time of the year for us to have an adventure and some fun. We can finally show off our skin and enjoy that natural glow from the sun. However, if you want to make sure that you are showing off a healthy summer glow this year, it is important for you to look after your skin. Today we are going to take a look at some simple skincare tips for the summer time.

1. Exfoliate your body

One of the first thing anyone will tell you if you head to a SkinDoctors is that you need to keep your skin clear and fresh. Exfoliating is one of those things that you might not think of doing all of the time, bit in the summer in particular it is important for you to do this every few days. The reason why we need to exfoliate our skin is that skin cells shed, and during the summer as the heat and sun blare down on us, skin cells die at a quicker rate. Eventually they need to be removed so that they do not cause blackheads on the skin. Exfoliating the skin will keep it looking youthful, shiny and healthy.

2. Sunscreen EVERYWHERE

As soon as the summer sun starts to become a common occurrence, it is important for you to be able to protect your skin. Our skin can become pretty sensitive at the best of times, however when we have been in the sun for a while there is a large risk of us burning our skin and causing other issues. Make sure that no matter where you go you always have sunscreen with you to protect your skin from UV rays. This will allow you to stay out in the sunshine all day and not worry about the damage it might cause. Also, have a think about eating healthy oils such as olive oil every day as these contain fatty acids which can help to protect the skin from the inside.

3. Use minimal makeup

During the summer time, the weather is much warmer and if you are used to wearing a lot of makeup, you will know that this can cause your makeup to melt and become a little cakey after a long while. The best thing you can do during the summer is not wear makeup at all, but if you want to wear some, keep it to a minimum. A good idea to replace your regular full coverage foundation would be a BB or CC cream and then use a light powder, some highlight and mascara for a pop on the eyes. The less coverage you can give yourself during the summer the better it will be for your skin because your skin will be able to breathe and cool itself down in the heat more effectively.

4. Drink lots of water

Water is crucial for the body and it is incredibly important for you if you want to keep yourself healthy in the summer. The skin is like any other part of the body, it needs to be hydrated and it needs to stay clean. By drinking lots of water you can flush out toxins from the body and you can also ensure that your skin cells are able to stay plump and youthful. Make sure you drink around 8 glasses of water every day and this will not only be great for your skin, but it will also be amazing for the overall health of your body and your wellbeing.

5. Use lotion

It is important throughout our lives to look after out skin and make sure it is able to stay looking and feeling youthful for as long as possible. One of the ways you can do this is to use lotion on your skin every day after you shower. Lotion is a great thing to keep with you in the summer time because when we are exposed to the sun for hours and hours on end, our skin can become dry and this can cause it to peel. By moisturising the skin on the outside it will act as a barrier for you and the sun, and it will ensure that the skin stays supple and soft.

6. Summer glow

Everyone enjoys being able to have a little bit of a glow on the skin, and during the summer you can get a tan without staying in the sun for hours and hurting your skin. If you want to gain a lovely summer glow without worrying too much about sun damage, you can use a gradual tan cream and gain a stunning glow in just a few days. Making your skin glow is amazing and it will allow you to look fabulous without hurting your skin.

7. The feet

There are a lot of different parts of the body which we can moisturise in order to make it look and feel supple, but one part of the body which is often forgotten is the feet. If you want your feet to look amazing in your wedges this summer, make sure to moisturise them after you have a shower or before you head to bed. One great idea for a long evening is to use a foot mask which you can sleep in overnight to gain supple and soft feet in no time at all.

8. Remember the scalp

One of the other places which is easy to forget about on the skin in summer is the scalp. Your scalp is incredibly important and it can become very burnt during the summer if you are in the sunshine all day. There are SPF scalp sprays which you can use to protect the scalp during a hot day, and there are also other things you can do such as exfoliating the head gently and using anti dandruff shampoo to help keep the skin healthy.
