How to plan for your honeymoon overnight

By Hand On The Hip - 12/07/2018

Hola!

How are you all doing? I hope you guys had fun as I walked you through my wedding. The next step was obviously honeymoon! I guess I was most excited about this part and badly needed this! After some research and talking to other newlyweds, we decided to go to Bali for our honeymoon. We had booked our tickets to Bali and a resort with a private pool to stay at. Unfortunately, we weren't destined to go there. A day before we boarded that plane, our tickets were cancelled since there was a volcano eruption threat at Bali and I was extremely disappointed. We had to go somewhere, so we literally planned a last-minute trip to Thailand and also a very expensive one! But it was definitely worth every penny! My adorable husband planned the whole trip for us in a span of 2-3 hours and it was amazing. The fact that we had already packed for a beach destination really helped. And the fact that neither of us had ever been there made it an obvious choice. But somehow with no planning whatsoever on what we should be doing in Thailand, Mr and Mrs Priya started out on their very first trip as husband and wife! :)

Krabi
We started our honeymoon at Krabi where we stayed at Krabi Resort and had a private pool and all that jazz! We flew from Mangalore to Mumbai to Bangkok to Krabi, got a visa on arrival at Bangkok and thus began our honeymoon. The resort was exceptional and a perfect way to rejuvenate and chill. We spent most of our time at the pool or in the heated Jacuzzi. Could you blame us? The resort must have cost us like 25K INR per night and we had to make full use of that money, right? The resort also had it's own beach which is called Ao Nang beach. We spent some time at the beach as well. We also explored the resort a little bit, tried to do all the activities in the resort as well. Right outside the resort were series of  street shops, food joints and some pubs. We shopped a little bit for random things like slippers, shorts, bikinis etc. We ate a lot of great Thai food, like pineapple rice! We also drank a lot of wine and had a very relaxed stay in Krabi.

Phi-Phi Islands
After spending a couple of days in Krabi, we decided to take a ferry to Phuket and on our way there, we spent a good 2-3 hours in Phi-Phi. We realized that Phi-Phi was much more amazing that Krabi since it's more touristy and has a lot of cool food joints. We decided that we are going to come back to Phi-Phi for a holiday! Since we were dead tired, we couldn't loiter around a lot. We just walked by the beach, ate some Thai food and had some cold beers.

Phuket
The whole idea of this honeymoon was to do nothing, relax and chill. We had booked Westin in Phuket and we spent the whole day in the resort. We went for a relaxing massage during the day, a super authentic Thai massage which was heavenly. We spent the rest of the day walking around the resort, ate some fabulous food and had some beers. The following morning, we went to Jungceylon mall that was far away from the resort for some shopping for family. We bought lots of souvenirs, leather wallets and passport covers, purses, show pieces, chocolates and so much more for throwaway prices at this mall.

What I really like about Thailand is the food. Thai curry - red or green and Pineapple rice is a must-try at Thailand. I am a beach person, so I really enjoy chilling at the sea. Another attraction for me is the street shopping. We bought truckloads of things and hardly spent any money on these things. I have always wanted to visit Thailand and I can safely say that this was the most laid-back travelling I have ever done! I am usually the kind of person who has a list of places to see or things to do when I travel and I try to cover as many things as possible in a short span of time. Well, I guess sometimes we need a break like this. Thailand was a much-needed break in our lives, especially after a hectic week of wedding shenanigans.

Love,
