A Gold Coast Holiday For Christmas

By Hand On The Hip - 12/01/2016

Sometimes the ideas of a crisp, cool white Christmas just isn’t your idea of fun. Not everyone enjoys the cold weather in winter and at Christmas things can be incredibly icy in the US, UK and Europe. If you want to escape the cold this year and have some fun somewhere new, here are some of the things you can do if you decide to spend Christmas in the Gold Coast of Australia instead.

Christmas in Surfers Paradise

From 21st December you will be able to spend some time with santa, his elves and kangaroos and experience a truly Aussie festive experience. You can learn more about the best places to stay in the gold coast and visit this wonderful attraction to get you in the right mood for festivities on the other side of the world. You can also get a family picture taken on the kangaroo sleigh so you’ll have an awesome memory to take home with you.

Surfers Paradise Carols on the Beach

If you really want to see how Australians celebrate this time of the year at the height of their summer, you can spend some time on Surfers Paradise beach and join in with Christmas carols and festive fun. On the 23rd December you can watch a fireworks display and see performers singing. Christmas carols on stage right on the beach. What better way to get you in the mood for a visit from santa?

Gold Coast Christmas Markets

No festive season is complete without Christmas markets in the city centre, and although the weather will be starkly different to what you are used to experiencing, the mood and the fun will still be there. In middle of December the Marine Parade in Southport will host a festive market place filled with arts and crafts, foods and drinks and gifts for all the family. It is the ideal way to spend a weekend day in the sun and it will make you feel more than ready for Christmas.

Christmas Carols on Broadbeach

More Christmas carols? Ok! If you head over the Broadbeach in Kurrawa Park at the start of December you’ll be in for a treat with a whole day of festive songs, kids activities and play things. You can go rock climbing, enjoy a bouncy castle and even face painting and get into that childlike Christmas spirit for the day. It can be a super fun way to countdown to the festive season.

Christmas in the Clouds

As long as you aren’t scared of heights, an amazing and most certainly unique way to celebrate the festive season would be to climb up Q1 and enjoy the most stunning view from Skypoint over the whole of the Gold Coast. You’ll be able to enjoy a 360 degree view of the city and the seaside as you enjoy the festive treats they have on offer. There will be live entertainment, a festive buffet and everything you could want for a festive start to Christmas.
