Bende on a Sunday :D

Hellllllooo! :)

This is my second food related post. No, I am definitely not turning this into a food blog :D But just for gags, here's what I did today with my Bhabhi dearest! Bende or bende kai is Okra or Lady's Finger in Kannada. Bhabz had this genius idea to make some fried bende kai for dinner and I assisted.. well, almost :D

So here's a list of things you need to buy/find in your kitchen -
1) Go to the nearest vegetable store and pick up 500 gms to 1 kg of Okra
2) Go to your kitchen and ask your mom to help you find some salt, urad dal, one big fat red chilli, some mustard seeds, turmeric and rasam powder (yes, that's the secret ingredient, not so secret anymore :D)
3) A cutting board, a towel, a knife (don't cut yourself!), a big-ass kadai and a spatula

Step 1: Wash the Okra with water, dry it with a towel so that your bhindi doesn't become all icky-sticky and chop them into tiny little pieces

Step 2: Fry some urad dal, mustard seeds and the red chilli in a pan with 2-3 tea spoons of oil and let it splutter

Step 3: Now add the chopped Okra to the pan and stir it, also add a pinch of turmeric, two table spoons of rasam powder and sprinkle salt

Step 4: Fry all the ingredients together and make sure they blend well, cover the kadai with a lid so that all of the ingredients get cooked

Step 5: 5-10 minutes later, you are left with some delicious fried Okra! :D
